Weekly Plan
"If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!" - Benjamin Franklin
Monday - Clean Bathrooms & Wash Towels
I cannot think of a better truth. I am a better wife, mother, woman, friend, volunteer, and any other of the things I am when I have a plan. I don't think or believe for one minute that a plan must be rigid, or that you can't veer off plan and still be successful. I do, however, believe that without a plan, there is no direction and chaos ensues.
Each of us is different and must determine to which degree she/he needs their plan to be detailed. For me, I need specific days with certain tasks. These are in my brain and my kids even know what days these things happen, but for you, that may look TOTALLY different. That's ok! The point is I encourage you to have a plan of some sort - so you know what you're trying to achieve.
I have tried many different methods - and essentially, this is the one that worked out for me the best. But I encourage you to figure out what yours looks like.
I have seen/tried the following -
I have seen/tried the following -
Weekly Plan 1 - each day has a purpose
Monday - Clean house
Tuesday - Shopping
Tuesday - Shopping
Wednesday - Laundry
Thursday - Sheets/Bills
Friday - Touch up and Towels
Weekly Plan 2 - each day has a task, but can be accomplished in under 30 minutes, leaving time for flexibility/shopping/bills/etc.
Monday - Clean Bathrooms & Wash Towels
Tuesday - Vacuum Whole House & Wash Clothing
Wednesday - Clean doors/mirrors/tv screens & Dust
Thursday - Mop Floors & Wash Clothing
Friday - Tidy, Change Sheets, Wash extra load (if necessary)
Honestly, I landed somewhere around Plan 2 - but even that has been tweaked to fit our schedule and lives. That is the beauty of being perfectly imperfect. It isn't about getting the plan done as it's written, it's about knowing what the plan is and working it to the best of your ability.
I think of it this way. I have a certain way I like to do things. But in teaching my kids to clean the kitchen, if I go behind them and do it again, I'm telling them I don't appreciate their efforts. Don't get me wrong, I don't accept half-hearted attempts, but if they load the dishwasher differently than I do - so what? If the dishes come out clean, wasn't that the goal? Same with this - I have a plan. The end goal is to have a tidy home and space that we can enjoy nightly and on weekends - together. The path to that doesn't matter. Sometimes it all goes crazy and then I have to resort back to FAST cleaning methods to get back on track! At the end of the day, I want to bless my family and give them a sacred space, and I too want to enjoy our sacred space!
I'd love to hear how you are creating your plan. What works in your home? What doesn't? In the end, make a plan that works for you and yours! You can thank me later for this advice! 😏
